25 years of sponsorship program: A festival of international diversity in Paderborn!
On May 9, 2025, the University of Paderborn celebrates an important anniversary: 25 years of its sponsorship program for international students. This program, which is organized by the International Office in cooperation with the student initiative "Eurobiz", has established itself as one of the oldest care initiatives for international students in Germany. Over 200 participants, including exchange students, patients as well as active and former participants, came to this solemn event.
The event was made by Simone Probst and Prof. Dr. Heike Trautmann opened, who paid tribute to the values open, diversity and international cooperation. Angelika Brebeck, former deputy management of the International Office, reflected on the foundation of the sponsorship program a quarter of a century. The main goal of the program is to make it easier for international students to start the university and in the city, which is particularly important during the first few weeks of studying.
Europe day 2023 and cultural elements
The celebration took place as part of the Europe Day, which will be celebrated annually on May 9 and is under the motto "75 years of unity and cooperation" in 2023. The event was accompanied musically by the intercultural choir "Klangkult", which additionally enriched the ceremony.
The sponsorship program offers various support offers, including help with authorities and information for starting the university. These initiatives are designed to enable international students to have a positive experience and to promote their integration.
