40 years of women strengthen women: WUPSI bus for equality on the go!
On March 25, 2025, the association “Women strengthen women” celebrates its 40th anniversary. This significant milestone is recognized by a special campaign by the WUPSI, the region's transport company. A WUPSI bus will be in the Rheinisch-Bergische Kreis for six months and will draw attention to the work of the association. Mayor Frank Stein took over the patronage for this project.
The association, which was founded in 1985, continues to actively campaign against violence against girls and women and fight for equality. The history of the association is long and shaped by numerous developments. The association "Women help women e.V." In 1985 of five committed women. Just a year later, in 1986, the women's center opened Hexkessel at Gartenstraße 5 in Bensberg with two employees. Significant extensions took place in 2010, including the opening of a counseling center for girls between the ages of 12 and 27. This facility was financed by foundations and donations for three years and experienced an expansion of the women's shelter by several rooms and common rooms.
