AC/DC concert moved to Düsseldorf: new arena, same mood!

The concert of the rock band AC/DC in Düsseldorf announced for July 8, 2025 will be moved to a new event location. The spectacle was originally supposed to take place in the new Open Air Park, but the organizers have decided to move the show to the Merkur Spiel-Arena. This is located in the stadium of Fortuna Düsseldorf. The day and time of the concert remain unchanged.

The decision to relocate the concert is part of a series of changes that had to be made due to the lack of permits for the concert area in the Open Air Park. D.Live, the operator of the park, confirms that the opening of the new site was postponed by one year to 2026. The pre -sale for the tickets of the concert had already started in February before the approvals for the construction project submitted. Around 40,000 of the 80,000 available tickets have already been sold.

laying and ticket information

With the relocation of the concert to the Merkur Spiel-Arena, which has a capacity of around 66,000 visitors, there are also changes to fans who have already bought tickets. These remain valid, but fans need exchanges for the new event location that have tickets for standing room or the areas for wheelchair users. Information on ticket exchange is sent to the people concerned by email.

The official confirmation of the relocation took place via the Instagram account of AC/DC. Although speculation lists the low ticket sales as a possible reason for the laying, D.Live emphasizes the flexibility in laying shows. In addition, the preparations for the Open Air Park continue, even if the concerns of the fans have so far been unfounded.

context for the power up-tour

The concert in Düsseldorf is part of the “Power Up” tour of AC/DC, which also includes appearances in Berlin and Karlsruhe. With this tour, the band not only caused a sensation in Germany, but also announced this new appearance as a significant part of its return after a long absence from the concert stage.

Another example of the challenges that the organizers look at is the still ongoing development plan for the new area, which is to be approved at the end of May. The relocation of the event means that planned tree felling cannot take place for the time being, which underlines the ecological aspect of the event.
