B39 in Speyer: Big road project begins in 2025 - traffic impaired!
From the end of July 2025, Speyer has a comprehensive roadway renovation on federal road 39. This is carried out between the B9 junction and the Speyer Center (Industriestraße). The affected section is a total of 2,600 meters long, which makes the renovation measure an important infrastructure project in the region. As part of this work, the Speyer-Süd-Römerberg and Speyer Vogelgesang (Lidl) junctions are also repaired, which extend over around 1,700 meters.
The renovation work is carried out in two phases with full closure of the road, which will make a significant detour via the A61 motorway and the B9 necessary. Traffic disruptions are unfortunately inevitable. The state company Mobility Speyer informs that the entire measure should continue by December 2025. The estimated construction costs amount to around 2,900,000 euros, which underlines the importance of the renovation for both the transport infrastructure and the economy of the region.
extensive renovation work planned
The renovation of the B39 is coordinated by the state company Mobility Speyer. The start of construction and the exact expiry of the construction work will be announced in the near future. In view of the great dimensions of the work, it is expected that residents and commuters will have to expect traffic impairments over a longer period of time. The LBM Speyer therefore asks for understanding during the entire construction period.
The importance of a reliable transport infrastructure is emphasized by the traffic investment report 2022 of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. This emphasizes that a well -developed network of traffic routes is crucial for personal freedom, social participation and economic growth. Germany is one of the best traffic routes worldwide. In order to secure and expand this quality, the implementation of such projects is essential.
In addition, the report shows that investments in traffic routes are the key to eliminating bottlenecks. The upcoming renovation work in Speyer are part of this comprehensive strategy that aims to maintain and improve the high level of quality in the traffic infrastructure.
