Education in the crisis: Teachers complain of lack and bureaucracy!

On March 25, 2025, the annual general meeting of the BLLV district association took place in Neustadt, in which long -standing members were honored for their loyalty. Despite the presence of only five of the more than twenty jubilees, the event brought together active teachers and pensioners. Barbara Schwemmer, the chairwoman of the district association, and her colleague Schmid took over the honors, while Astrid Schels, the district staff council chairman, held a short department on the current education policy. Oberpfalzecho.de reports that Schels expressed their hope for meaningful results from the current educational policy measures.

The person present was able to testify the appreciation of members who have remained loyal to the association for long periods of time. The honored include:

  • Christina Zintl: 25 years of membership
  • Armin Aichinger: 30 years of membership
  • Karl Haubner: 40 years of membership
  • German Beer: 55 years of membership
  • Leopold Exchange: 65 years of membership

The event ended in a harmonious atmosphere during a dinner together. Here the members had the opportunity to conduct profound discussions about the challenges of educational policy.

Current challenges in education policy

The challenges mentioned are not only regionally, but also affect the entire German education system. A report by Beununsdaheim.de Manuel Sennert criticized the current situation in schools during the meeting in the Wolfringmühle. In particular, the new concept for teaching was described as inadequate in order to effectively combat the lack of teachers. Despite cautious incomes and advertising campaigns, the acquisition of new staff is a big challenge.

A review of the year 2024 shows alarming results of international education studies. These make it clear that Germany falls back in international comparison with educational issues. Studies such as TIMSS 2024 and ICILS 2024 have shown that both digital skills and school performance are in the downward trend. Social origin in particular plays a negative role in educational success. Lehrer-news.de emphasizes that specialists and support teachers are increasingly required to counteract these problems.

Sennert also emphasized the need to reduce stressful bureaucracy and to improve further training and the support of non -school teaching teachers. A flexible adjustment of part -time regulations and the reintroduction of Sabbath models could counteract this. The fact that only a third of the teachers regularly reaches retirement age, while many leave early is another alarming sign of the burdens in the profession.

In summary, it can be stated that at the annual general meeting, both the long -standing members and the examination of the current educational policy challenges draw attention to the important issues of education. The need to fundamentally improve the framework for teachers remains urgent. The connection of the members with their district association and their active participation in the discourse are important steps to make the future of education in Germany positively.
