Federal Police reaches through: arrests at the Dortmund main train station!

On January 29, 2025, the federal police carried out controls in the main train stations of Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen, in which two criminals sought were arrested. This was done in the context of regular checks that aim to ensure public security.

In Dortmund, a 29-year-old man was arrested at 4 p.m. He was sought on the basis of a criminal order from the Dortmund District Court, which was imposed on him in November 2023 due to the extension of services. The amount to be paid was 300 euros, consisting of 30 daily rates of 10 euros each. Since he could not pay this fine, he was brought to the Dortmund correctional facility, where he is expected to spend 30 days. The creeping of services represents a criminal offense in German criminal law, which is regulated in § 265a StGB and is used especially in cases such as illegal driving.

Just 20 minutes after the arrest in Dortmund, a 19-year-old woman in Gelsenkirchen was also caught by the officials. Like her predecessor in Dortmund, she was obliged to pay a fine of 300 euros. However, she was able to pay the amount directly on site in the Federal Police guard, which gave her a prison sentence of 15 days. After setting the fine, she was allowed to continue her way.
