Colorful meadows and old fruit trees: new life for the mountain road!
On March 24, 2025, committed members of the association blooming Bergstraße revitalized a property on the ruin Windeck in a work assignment. This area had offered a beautiful view of the castle in the past, but the non -compliance with care and maintenance led to this view lost. Beate Weis, member of the board of the association, has leased the property in order to have sheep and goats grazing and sustainable to the species and flower wealth.
Numerous measures were taken in the first steps. For example, blackberries were pushed back and the fence on the flower path was freed from overgrown undergrowth. In addition, the helpers cleared hollow chamber stones and other inappropriate material. A particularly dilapidated fruit tree, which was overgrown by a forest dreble, was also removed. Despite some illnesses among the helpers, the group was motivated and worked together with enthusiasm.
The goal of revitalization
The overarching goal of the project is to upgrade the habitat and ensure regular care in order to create a species -rich meadow. For this purpose, dead wood was also streamed, which not only serves as a hiding place for animals, but also creates sunplaces for lizards. In the future, the replacement of young fruit trees will also be planned to further promote biodiversity.
The association "Blühende Bergstraße" works as part of a comprehensive project that was initiated in 2014 and has been continued by the project communities and the association since 2019. mrn news is subject to constant change. Many vineyards, fruit tree stocks and garden plots are abandoned, which ultimately leads to the disappearance of typical biotopes and endangered species.
collaboration and support
Various approaches are listed for the implementation of the project, which include promoting landscape -friendly management of land and advising the property administrators. In addition, the network of paths should be secured and renovated. All of these measures aim to preserve and develop the Bergsträßer landscape not only as a recreational area, but also as an important nature reserve, as in the extensive program of the association Datointerested citizens have the opportunity to report to the association in order to actively help with future actions or to support the project financially.
