Dagmar Frederic celebrates its 80th birthday: a life for music!

On April 15, 2025, the popular singer Dagmar Frederic celebrates her 80th birthday. The artist, who became the star of entertainment music in the GDR, is primarily known for her hits like "What do you think of the tango" and "don't let the roses faded". Frederic, who lives in Berlin-Köpenick with her fifth husband Klaus Lenk, is still planning 40 appearances by the end of the year, including in cities such as Dresden and Erfurt as well as on the Baltic Sea. Her impressive career began in 1966 with a appearance in the Berlin Friedrichstadtpalast, where she was discovered by Peter Wieland, which she later married. Since then she has established herself as a singer and moderator, especially through her work on GDR television, where she led the show "A Kessel Buntes".

Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke recognizes her achievements and influence on the audience. He describes Frederic as a versatile artist, whose appearances pull entire families in front of the television screens. In his speech on the anniversary, he emphasizes her charm and ability to convey joie de vivre. Woidke also announced that she will appear in Perleberg at the Brandenburg Day in September, and expects many guests to only come because of it.

an eventful life and controversial moments

Dagmar Frederic looks back on a long and moving career. Despite the allegations of the proximity to the state during her time in the GDR, she does not see it as her fault. Especially in 2014 she was the goal of criticism when she saluted in a wax figure cabinet next to Erich Honecker. Despite such controversy, Frederic remains a popular figure in the German entertainment scene. Wolfgang Lippert, a colleague and friend, described her as one of the big ladies in this industry.

Today the artist is satisfied with the age and has decided not to take up cosmetic operations. She plans to celebrate her milestone birthday with guests from politics and show business and also has musical projects with her daughter Maxie. Frederic has been married to Klaus Lenk for 23 years and thus continues their tradition of being rooted in both music and family life.
