The Mercedes-Benz Camp: Over 50 fans celebrate in Witzenhausen!

The third Mercedes-Benz camp took place on Sunday, April 29, 2025. Organizer and campsite operator Michael Bürmann welcomed over 50 Mercedes-Benz fans from various parts of Germany. The participants had the opportunity to present their vehicles and to exchange ideas with the so -called "gasoline talks".

Bürmann, who has been running the Werra Valley campsite together with his wife Wiebke for three years, explains that the idea for the camp came from his passion for Mercedes cars. 13 years ago he acquired the popular 124 T-model, which he lovingly calls "holy cow". Since its premiere in 2023, the event grew from around 25 to almost 70 vehicles in 2024, and Bürmann hopes to be able to increase this number to 100 in the current year.

enthusiasts and their vehicles

particularly gratifying for the members of the community was the reunion of Martin Lorenz and Thomas Gerlach. Gerlach acquired a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 from 1976 half a year ago. This model, which comes up with 286 hp and a top speed of around 230 km/h, is an absolute classic among the Mercedes vehicles and is considered one of the highlights of the brand.

The Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, which was introduced in 1975 as the top version of the W 116 model, was often celebrated as the best car in the world. Equipped with a 6.9 liter V8 engine, the car is a prime example of engineering. According to autobild.de the 450 SEL 6.9 costs over 69,000 DM at the time, which was almost twice as much as the basic model that was 350 SE.

collector's piece among the Mercedes lovers

A special copy of the 450 SEL 6.9 will be auctioned by Bonhams on September 7, 2024. The estimation price is between 24,000 and 35,000 euros. Interestingly, the auctioned model takes on a special position, as it dates from the last year of construction 1980 and is equipped with an AMG apron and original AMG-Penta rims. Inside the car was extensively restored in 2009 and newly Beledert in the colors dark brown and beige.

The total number of production of the Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 amounts to 775 and 1980. Despite its popularity, the prices for the model vary significantly, starting around 20,000 euros for neglected vehicles, and at least 40,000 euros for well -groomed specimens up to 100,000 euros for the best models. In the case of prices, however, the differences between right-wing and left-handed drivers must also be observed, since the right-hand handlebars are less attractive for German buyers.

The next Mercedes-Benz-Camp 4.0 is already planned for the last weekend in April in the coming year, and the community of Mercedes lovers is already looking forward to the next meeting. These events, in combination with the fascination with classic cars, show that the love for Mercedes-Benz will remain alive in the next few years.
