The living room celebrates its birthday: an evening full of music and nostalgia!
On April 12, 2025, the living room, a popular catering business on Alaunstrasse in Dresden, celebrates its twentieth birthday. Sascha Reiher has been shaping the local pub life for two decades and has made a name for himself. In addition to the living room, Reiher also runs the Madness and a chocolate bar. Its goal is to achieve resistance in the trendy district, even if the gastronomic landscape is constantly changing.
The inner design of the living room reflects an appealing mix of styles. Instead of concentrating on the typical GDR design, there are furniture in the style of the 1960s and 1970s as well as pieces by Louis Seize and Thomas Chippendale. After a devastating fire that destroyed almost all furniture, the new furnishings were procured in a Chemnitz furniture barn.
birthday party with program
To celebrate the anniversary, Sascha Reiher invites current and former employees to an internal birthday party. The event begins at 5 p.m., followed by a concert by 22-year-old singer-songwriter Lomo, which connects well-known genres such as indie rap and pop. In addition, R.B. Wunderwald, musician and DJ, design the poster for celebration and accompany the aftershow musically. Reiher also plans to offer young artists a stage and possibly revive earlier formats such as the popular Sunday matines.
Another remarkable feature of Reiher's pubs is the introduction of sustainable drinking straws made of pasta. At a time when millions of plastic waste end up in our oceans annually, the EU Commission is increasingly making demands for the abolition of disposable plastic. Reihen experimented with plastic alternatives and found that cita noodles, which remain stable in the drink, represent a functional solution. The pasta straws should be both environmentally friendly and cost -effective.
a step towards sustainability
Sustainability plays an increasingly central role in the catering trade. Definitions, such as those of the Federal Center for Political Education, illustrate that profits should be generated in an environmentally and socially acceptable manner. The growing number of restaurants that are awarded the "Green Stern" shows that many restaurants already meet these standards. In 2024, 77 of them were awarded, an increase of ten compared to the previous year.
In his companies, heron pursues a focused approach to ecological sustainability. The pasta drinks are offered in the three pubs and contribute to reducing plastic waste. The use of biodegradable materials and the conscious handling of resources are current trends that are also increasingly well received in the Dresden gastronomy.
It is evident that the living room has not only become a place for enjoyment, but also for applied sustainability. With his ideas and the focus on resistance, Sascha is brings fresh wind to the local catering scene and at the same time sets positive impulses for an environmentally conscious future.
