Ratings and scoring
The voting system at ESC is complex and consists of two sets of points - one from a jury and one from the audience. Each country awards points to its ten favorites, with the best entries receiving 12, 10, 8 and 1 points. The juries consist of smaller, demographically balanced groups, while in televoting every viewer can take part to support their favorite songs. It also shows that in the past the audience favored, while the jury often made unconventional decisions, which influenced the dynamics of the competition results, as can be read on Wikipedia.
For Germany, the points were awarded as follows: The jury awarded 77 points, while the audience only contributed 74 points, which shows that the contribution was not very popular with the audience.
Alternative scoring
Overall, the Eurovision Song Contest is not only a stage for impressive musical performances, but also a place where the European community comes together to celebrate its cultural differences.
