Drama in Treis: Bungalowbrand demands life of an 89-year-old!
On Saturday morning, February 16, 2025, there was a tragic fire in Treis, more precisely in Friedrich-Ebert Straße. The Staufenberg fire brigade was alerted at 10:45 a.m., accompanied by the emergency services, police and the fire protection supervisory service of the district of Gießen. This alarm was carried out under the operational keyword F 2 Y, which means that human life was in danger. The Situation quickly escalated when a visible cloud of smoke increased the operational keyword on F3 and additional emergency services were mobilized to support.
When the first firefighters arrived, the bungalow was already in full fire. The fire fighting under heavy breathing protection was immediately initiated. At the same time, a person search was carried out. Among the measures was also the bar position with other pipes to protect the neighboring buildings and the vegetation. A turntable crew was also in use to open the roof skin of the bungalow and dissipate smoke and heat.
tragic loss
After about 30 minutes of intensive search, the 89-year-old woman, who was missing, was recovered dead out of the building. Around 150 emergency services were on site and were coordinated by Sören Kraft, the head of operations. Mayor Peter Gefeller visited the site to get an idea of the situation. The criminal police have already initiated investigations to clarify the exact cause of the fire. Such incidents not only show the challenges in front of which firefighters are in their missions, but also the emotional stress associated with their work.
In Germany, over 1.3 million firefighters who are active annually at almost 3.9 million missions are active, as Feuerwehrverband.de These missions range from fires to technical assistance in traffic accidents. Those who work in the fire brigade often save human lives under extremely difficult circumstances. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to help successfully, which can lead to emotional stress in the emergency services.
use in Viechtach
Another current example of the challenges of the emergency services occurred in Viechtach in the Regen district, where a 60-year-old man was missing on Wednesday night. Various organizations, including seven fire brigades, the mountain rescue and the police, were looking for him. The man was reported as missing shortly before midnight by the Arberland Clinic Viechtach. Despite the use of modern technology, such as drones, the search had to be temporarily canceled due to the freezing levels.
The missing man was finally found at around 3 a.m. on a meadow, about 250 meters from the hospital, and brought back to the Arberland clinic after emergency medical care. Such operations illustrate the deprivation and risks that firefighters and rescue workers take every day to protect the lives of others.
