Edeka Kassel says no to fireworks: Customers cheer on decision!

In the Kassel EDEKA branch there will be no fireworks on New Year's Eve 2024. This decision was made out of consideration for the environment and animals. A corresponding note was posted in the branch, and many customers are pleased with the decision made. Users on X (formerly Twitter) share numerous positive feedback, with some even a general ban on sales in Germany. They argue that fireworks cause noise and dirt, which particularly affects pets and wild animals.

A study by the Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Biology shows that wild geese experience fear and panic due to fireworks. According to the Federal Environment Agency, fireworks released around 2,050 tons of fine dust (PM10) annually, which corresponds to about 13% of fine dust emissions through wood firing in Germany.
