The handball game community (HSG) Hanau and the KEV coordination office of volunteers are also represented. The event is open to anyone interested, a prior registration is not required. In addition, visitors can go into conversation with the representatives of the organizations.

diverse possibilities of participation

The Hanau volunteer agency not only supports this speed dating event, but also offers personal consultations. Another highlight is the volunteer walk, which enables the participants to exchange ideas with like-minded people and to discuss commitment and volunteering.

The agency also provides a training series for committed people who are organized in cooperation with the Volkshochschule (VHS). This is funded by the Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs. Current information on the courses is available on the website of the city of Hanau.

The commitment in Germany

The proportion of the population, which voluntarily is committed, has risen continuously in Germany since 1999. According to the 5th German volunteer survey, which will be held every five years, around 40 % of people in Germany were involved in 2019. This corresponds to around 28.8 million people. It is noteworthy that men and women get involved in different areas almost equally.

In Hanau, this trend is supported by numerous events and initiatives, such as the volunteer speed dating. The age groups between 30 and 49 years are particularly active, in which the commitment rate is 44.7 %. Older people also show growing interest; The quota for over 65-year-olds rose from 18.0 % in 1999 to 31.2 % in 2019. Engagement is therefore not only a question of age, but also the relationships of education and origin.
