Elastokaloric conference in Saarbrücken: Future of air conditioning technology discussed!
The second international conference on elasto -Ocaloric will take place from May 13th to 15th, 2025 in the Innovation Center (A2 1) of the Saarland University in Saarbrücken. Around 100 international researchers will take part in this important event, which has set itself the goal of promoting the cooperation in research in this innovative air conditioning technology. According to Ia> elastocaloric is considered one of the most promising alternatives to current heating and Cooling processes.
The patented technology does not use climate -damaging refrigerants or fossil fuels. Instead, heat transfer is carried out by wires and sheets from form memory alloys, especially Nickel-Titan. This method not only offers a high level of efficiency, but is also much more energy -efficient than conventional techniques. The aim of research is to develop prototypes for air conditioning systems, cooling systems and applications in the field of electromobility.
research and development
An essential feature of this technology research is the commitment of the Saarbrücken research team, which has been working on elastocalors for over 15 years. During this time, several million euros were invested in funded projects. The results include the first cooling and heating demonstrator and a compact mini fridge. According to iml.de , the developed prototypes reach an efficiency that is three to five times higher than in conventional systems. Climate systems based on this technology could realize temperature differences of up to 40 degrees Celsius.
The EU Commission and the US Ministry of Energy describe elastocaloric as a promising Alternative to previous procedures. This assessment is further reinforced by the increasing demand for energy -efficient climate systems, which makes the potential of technology in areas such as building air conditioning, industrial cooling and household appliances clear.
international networking and perspectives
The conference in Saarbrücken is also opened by well -known scientists, including Jaka Tušek from the University of Ljubljana and Qingping Sun from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The first international specialist society, the "International Elastocaloric Society", was founded in 2023 to combine the scientific community to combine this groundbreaking technology. Professors Stefan Seelecke and Paul Motzki are pioneers in this research field and have made a decisive contribution to the development of elastocaloral technology.
The research team also launched Matigent GmbH in order to bring intelligent material systems for practical use. Artificial intelligence is used in the position of the wires and sheets to further optimize the efficiency and performance of the systems.
The results of this research and its areas of application clearly show that elastocaloric is not only an environmentally friendly, but also an economically sensible solution for the challenges in the field of air conditioning and temperature regulation. In the list of the "Top Ten Emerging Technologies" of the World Economic Forum in 2024, the procedure is also classified as pioneering
