The new “Burgfinken” daycare center was inaugurated in Krofdorf-Gleiberg today. This modern facility, which has been in operation since February 3, 2025, offers space for up to 150 children and is intended to represent an important center for family and education in the community. Mayor Marc Nees emphasized the importance of the daycare center for the future and the quality of life of the community and emphasized how important such an offer is for the families.The daycare center "Burgfinken" is located on Burgstraße and has a usable area of around 2,000 square meters, supplemented by generous outdoor facilities of 2,500 square meters as well as parking space and road surface of 1,500 square meters. With an investment volume of around 7 million euros, of which 1.5 million euros were funded by grants, the daycare center represents an important project for the region. The building concept stipulates that the facility houses a total of six group rooms for 25 children, which represents an extension compared to the old daycare center "Finkenweg", which only has four groups.

The new premises are designed in such a way that U3 children can use their own areas on the ground floor while the older children are housed on the upper floor. An open concept with nest groups also enables the children's cross -group mixing of the children. The development of the pedagogical concept takes place in close coordination with the district's specialist advice in order to meet the needs of the children as best as possible.
The new head of the daycare center, Katharina, leads a team of 16 educators who take care of the children. So far, 100 children have already been registered in the facility, but full utilization is only expected to be the new daycare center after the summer vacation. Since the need for childcare places is growing for under three year olds, the opening of this daycare center is particularly contemporary.

The inauguration ceremony with an open day attracted many visitors, including parents, grandparents and siblings. A colorful supporting program with handicrafts and creative offers, a bouncy castle, dance performances by the group "Burgfinken" and a raffle created an exuberant atmosphere. The outdoor facilities for the play areas are to be completed in the course of spring 2025 and contribute to the holistic development of the children.
