On the first weekend in May, there is a traditional celebration again in Grethen: the Kerwe, which will take place this year from 1st to May 6th. Mayor Dieter Walther (SPD) emphasizes that the Kerwe will be a feast for every taste. In an exciting supporting program, the celebration is enriched with diverse musical interludes and children's actions. The highlight of the event is the appearance of the band "Woifeschdkänisch" on Sunday, May 4th, from 5 p.m.

The musician accompaniment of the Kerwe refers to various genres and time periods. On Friday, May 2, Werner Schifferecker will appear, followed by "Sunshine Barry", who will create a mood on Saturday, May 3, with a rock of the 90s. The musical rhythm on Monday, May 5th, brings Sven and Eric Greifenstein with their formation "XXETRA Acoustic" and a mix of rock and acoustic hits. On Tuesday, May 6th, the duo "Schorle Gidda Willi" and "Dubbe Sax Olli", better known as "Dubbeglass-Brieder", will be the end of the festivities.

The children's program starts on Thursday, May 1st, at 1 p.m. with the traditional spots of the maypole. There will be face painting on Saturday, while on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. the magician Magic Allessandro will captivate the youngest. The activities on Monday include free trips and chocolate coat rounds. In addition, a morning pint will take place with brass music on Sunday from 12 p.m., and at 10 a.m. the ecumenical Kerwegotesdesdeses begins, which will be offered for the first time on Kerweplatz.

The Kerwe's official opening takes place on Friday at 7 p.m., where visitors can expect greetings from Marion and Anja. Another highlight of the opening is the event "Best of Kerweredd". In connection with the Kerwe, an exhibition entitled "1000 Years of Limburg" will also be shown in the parish hall of St. Josef. The opening times of the exhibition are on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
