Large deployment in Dietzenbach: control of social service fraud and grievances!

On January 30, 2025, the city of Dietzenbach carried out a significant large -scale operation against abuse of performance and criminal activities. Around 40 emergency services, consisting of the city police and the municipal regulatory authority, were involved in checking apartments and restaurants for possible violations. The aim was to uncover and punish abuse of social benefits and illegal jobs. This was reported by the Rheinmainverlag .

The focus of the controls was the proper report of residents and employees. In addition, violations of apartment use and references to rental users as well as mold in several objects were found. Overcrowded units were identified during the visited apartments, which is not only a living space problem, but also a potential risk of the health of the tenants. Construction defects such as leaky windows and defective ventilation were also documented.

results of the restaurant controls

The controls in the restaurants also brought numerous administrative offenses to light. In addition to incorrect cash management and blocked escape routes, the officials discovered illegal slot machines, which were then sealed. The focus is in particular on the shisha bars, since in one case the preliminary closure of a restaurant was ordered due to multiple violations of the youth protection law. In addition, a fine procedure was initiated to clarify the criminal aspects.

The planning of the comprehensive commitment took several weeks and led to a cross -agency cooperation between the municipal regulatory office, the city police, per work of the district of Offenbach, the family fund and the state police. The head of the department for security and order, Markus Hockling, emphasized the need for these coordinating measures in order to consistently act against abuse of performance. Dietzenbach's mayor, Dr. Dieter Lang thanked everyone involved and emphasized the importance of such operations for security and order in the city.

Performance abuse in Germany

Performance abuse is referred to in Germany as the preservation of social benefits that come about through incomplete or incorrect information. This includes, for example, not reporting changes in the personal living environment, as described in wikipedia-entry . For example, an unemployment benefit recipient who does not indicate an ancillary employment can violate the Social Code.

The legal provisions stipulate that failure to do so lead to administrative offenses that can be punished with fines of up to 5000 euros. Despentable cases of abuse of performance are also pursued under criminal law. In such situations, the authorities have the right to take access to the business documents of employers, and can even consult the police for support in the event of sufficient suspicion.
