On May 5, 2025, the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr expects an extraordinary cultural event that immerses the viewer into a fascinating cosmos of creep and interactive experiences. The theatrical live radio play "Grusel" is an innovative project that deals with the topics of fear and scary and enables it to experience it in an interactive and at the same time inclusive. The spectators, who encompass both sighted and blind people, sit on the stage and are surrounded by crackling corners and creaking doors, while they are immersed in the eerie world via headphones that are crossed by fantastic and real horrors.
"Grusel" is the result of creative cooperation directed by Hannah Biedermann and Norman Grotegut. The ensemble, which includes Marouf Alhassan, Franziska Schmitz and Manuela Neudegger, is supported by an elaborate production group. The dramaturgy is worn by Lisa Zehetner and Milena Noëmi Kowalski from KJT Dortmund, while the impressive sound design of Dirk Sorge comes. This game with audio, which lets the viewers immerse yourself in the mysterious events, not only promotes the feeling of community, but also enables self -determined experience of the content.
interactive creepy experiences
The spectators are part of an eerie game in which they receive instructions through their headphones and experience ghost sound around them. The performance focuses on scenes that are anchored in the collective fear memory, such as Monster under the bed and strange noises. This interactive experience makes “creepy” a magical experience that combines the attraction of surprises and frightening, while at the same time it deals with the perspective of children.

The performance is not only intended for children, but also appeals adults who want to immerse themselves in an overwhelming sound experience. an important sound design
The sound concept is supplemented by modern audio techniques that intensify the immersive experience. As usual in contemporary theater production, sound design is used creatively to enable acoustic persecution that enriches the entire theater experience. The positioning of the sound, as explained by Thomas Wegner, will be crucial to create the necessary intimacy and transparency.
"Creeper" is not just a monster hunt in the dark, but a piece that plays as an experience with the feeling of fear without actually having to fear the audience. It has already found high recognition and was awarded the "Westwind" price in 2024.
