Helga Zander becomes 100: a century full of joie de vivre and humor!

On February 10, 2025, Helga Zander from Nauheim celebrated her remarkable 100th birthday. Despite her old age, she worked at least ten years younger and was happy about numerous well -wishers who came into her apartment. Among the guests was the first district deputy Adil Oyan, who presented her a bouquet of flowers and a certificate. Zander's daughter, Gudula Anker, reported that her mother does not take any medication that is unusual for many of her age.

In her free time, Helga Zander loves both walks and baking cakes. Until a few years ago, she kept fit with regular gymnastics, and dancing and traveling used to be part of her passions. Born in Mühlenrahmede, she married her first husband in 1949 to return from Russian captivity. Her daughter Gudula was born in 1959 and the family moved to Ginsheim for professional reasons, where she lived for almost 50 years. Nauheim has been her new home for six years.

family and joie de vivre

Helga Zander is a proud four -time grandma and six times the great -grandmother. She always tried to take the age with a dash of humor. In an invitation to her neighbors, she formulated heartily: "The old one from above will be 100" and asked for "a friendly face" instead of gifts. Their perspective on age was shaped by the family, which has many members who achieved a old age; Both grandfathers turned 90 while their younger brother has already died.

The life situation of older people in Germany requires a more detailed consideration. The proportion of the population from the age of 80 increases, and yet there is little knowledge of the quality of life of this group. In order to better understand the need for support in old age, the study "Old Age in Germany" (D80+) was founded, which interviewed high -altred people in private households and homes nationwide. This study is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and integrates several perspectives from sociology, psychology and gerontology

The results of this survey could help develop solutions for socio -political challenges such as social security in old age and generation justice. In addition, they should help to empirically refute negative age images and prejudices about the quality of life in old age. Helga Zander's attitude and way of life could serve as an inspiring example that joy and activity can exist even in old age.

On a broader level, platforms such as Ancestry and Family Angry offer innovative opportunities for genealogical research, including extensive records of life in Germany. These resources are important for the understanding of demographic developments and historical contexts in which people like Helga Zander live.
