Heart for children: Gerald Asamoah is committed to sick children in Ghana!

On December 23, 2024, the former Schalke player Gerald Asamoah visited the Duisburg heart center to hand over gifts to sick children and the staff there. This visit took place in the middle of the Christmas season, while the professionals of FC Schalke 04 are on Christmas holidays and will be returned on January 2. Asamoah is not only a former player, but also initiator of the Gerald Asamoah Foundation, who works for children with heart.

In the current Christmas season, other Schalke players on social media were also shown. Tomas Kalas celebrates the festival in Bristol with his partner and a pet, which he proudly shares on Instagram in front of a decorated Christmas tree. Goalkeeper Ron-Torchen Hoffmann traditionally spends the holidays with his brother Finn in front of the Christmas tree, while Schalke 04 published an extensive Christmas collage, which, among other things, shows the top scorer Moussa Sylla. Ex-player Julian Draxler enjoys the holidays on the beach in Qatar with his partner and daughter. Manuel Neuer delights his fans in a stylish black outfit with Christmas greetings. Jefferson Farfán posts a picture that shows him surrounded by gifts and a decorated Christmas tree. In addition, Tobias Mohr shared a black and white picture with his wife Louisa, while Ron Schallenberg posed in front of a Christmas tree.

Asamoah and his heart mission

Gerald Asamoah, 43-time German international, suffers from a heart defect. He is supported by Schalke 04 in his commitment, and his foundation enables vital heart operations in Ghana, where 23 children could be healed by critical heart disease. Asamoah was deeply touched by the conditions in the operating room during his visit to Ghana and the challenges that it means to recognize and treat heart defects in Germany at an early stage. In Ghana, on the other hand, many children do not receive the necessary medical support. Asamoah plans to ensure that children with heart patients in Ghana will also receive the necessary help. The team of doctors, who worked in Ghana, was last present in the Veltins-Arena at the Schalke home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
