Mobile radio in the Schlinger course: where the connections are missing in Hesse!

Mobile radio in the Schlinger course: where the connections are missing in Hesse!
Mobile radio supply in Germany shows significant differences, especially in rural regions. According to the op-online is affected by so-called "gray spots", in which not all four mobile operators-Telekom, Vodafone, o2 and 1 & 1 - are present. There are also 2.2% "white spots", in which there is no broadband supply at all. This data illustrates the challenges that users in Germany have when accessing mobile Internet.
The levels of supply vary particularly in Hesse. While the city of Offenbach is completely without gray spots, other areas show far higher values. With 21.59%, the Main-Kinzig-Kreis has the highest gray spots, followed by the Kassel district with 22.07% and the Odenwaldkreis with 33.95%. The white spots also accumulate in these rural regions, with the Main-Kinzig-Kreis 5.27% and the Odenwaldkreis 5.56%.
5G supply and surf speeds
Despite these challenges, Hessen can come up with a relatively strong 5G coverage. The city of Kassel has an impressive 97.48% 5G cover, while Frankfurt even reaches a complete cover of 100%. Future plans even provide data speeds of up to 10,000 Mbit/s at train stations and train lines, which is a strong thrust in the digital infrastructure.
The surf speeds at various ICE stations in Hesse also show a mixed picture. While the Frankfurt train station shines with 1000 Mbit/s (Telekom) and 500 Mbit/s (Vodafone), the values in other cities such as Bensheim and Göttingen are significantly lower. The table below illustrates the differences:
train station Th> | Telekom (Mbit/S) Th> | vodafone (mbit/s) Th> |
---|---|---|
Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe | 75 | 300 |
fulda | 300 | 200 |
Frankfurt Hbf | 1000 | 500 |
Frankfurt Airport Fernbahnhof | 225 | 400 |
Darmstadt | 1000 | 100 |
Bensheim | 150 | 200 |
Göttingen | 375 | 300 |
The Federal Network Agency also updated the interactive card for mobile phone monitoring on March 14, 2024. This now shows comprehensively the network coverage of 1 & 1 Mobilfunk GmbH, which has operated its own public mobile network since December 8, 2023. In the new map, white and gray spots can be clearly distinguishable, so that consumers are better informed and can access the quality of care. The data comes from various surveys and are updated in terms of quarter, which guarantees a prompt information provision.
With the constant improvement of the mobile network infrastructure and the inclusion of consumer information, it remains to be seen how mobile phone supply in Germany will develop. However, the trend shows that the initiatives are in the right direction to improve the quality of care.
