The Ober-Klingen trombone choir fights for young people and new talents!
In the municipality of Otzberg, the trombone choir Ober-Klingen has drawn attention to serious young talent problems. Lately, several services and other important missions have had to be canceled, which is due to the small number of operational windows. Choir director Helmut Rausch was concerned about the current situation, which significantly affects the musical presence of the community.
Nonetheless, there is hopes for improvement. Ten years ago, a musical syndicate was founded with the Breuberg musicians, which is seen as a profit for both sides. This cooperation enables the trombone choir to receive support in church services, while the Ober-Klingen musicians are also active in the brass music appearances of the Breuberg musicians. Karlheinz Uhrig, conductor and chairman of the Breuberg musicians, describes this collaboration as a true win-win situation.
recruitment through training
In order to address the challenges of the young problem, the trombone choir again offers its community the opportunity to learn wind instruments. The new head of the trombone choir, Andreas Marx, invites young people and adults of all ages to experience joy in making music together. The repertoire of the available instruments includes tenor horn, baritone, trombone, flugelhorn and trumpet. The conditions of participation require fundamental interest in music as well as patience and willpower.
The practice evenings take place in the parish hall Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interested parties can both bring their own instruments and take advantage of leisure instruments. The first trial evening is scheduled on October 30th at 7 p.m., followed by the first regular exercise date on November 6th.
- Lesson time: Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Trial evening: 30.10., 7 p.m. in the parish hall
- First exercise date: 06.11., 6 p.m. in the parish hall
The monthly levy for participation depends on the number of participants. Interested parties can receive more information directly from Andreas Marx on 041 52 - 72 061.
a contribution to cultural education
The efforts of the trombone choir are bed in another, comprehensive context of cultural and social education. Programs of international youth work and encounter that aim to integrate political, cultural and social aspects into youth education can also contribute to strengthening the trombone choir. However, measures must be carefully planned and coordinated with foreign partner organizations in order to meet the pedagogical claims.
The challenges that arise from the young problem are not only locally, but also in the context of global exchange programs. Above all, efforts for a balanced number of participants between German and foreign young people are required here.
The increasing cooperation between the trombone choir Ober-Klingen and the Breuberg musicians could not only be seen as an immediate solution to the young problem, but also seems to promote cultural education and exchange as part of a larger mission.
For future development, it is to be hoped that the efforts for young people and musical commitment will soon pay off in the community.
