The call showed that the senior should support financially in order to free a relative from a predicament. This type of fraud, known as "shock call", is currently being observed more often. The criminals try to move the victims, to act quickly and to hand over money through aggressive conversation and time pressure. In some cases, amounts of up to 100,000 euros were even requested.
In the current case, the money was handed over to an unknown man in a gift bag. This man was described as German, about 30 years old, slim and between 1.70 to 1.80 meters tall. He wore dark clothes, a winter hat and glasses. The police in Darmstadt asks on 06151/969-0 to provide information from possible witnesses.
