Large demonstration in Gießen: Resistance to the right of the right!
On February 10, 2025, there was a massive police presence at the station forecourt in Gießen when around 80 people gathered who took part in the large demonstration under the motto "Never again! Against the right back - for human rights". This event was a reaction to the growing right movement in Germany and attracted considerable public interest. The police were on site with numerous forces to monitor the situation and ensure that the meeting was peaceful.
At the same time, a counter -demonstration with only 13 participants took place under the motto "Let us demonstrate against the left insanity". After the assembly, the police spoke in favor of 12 people in the counter -demonstration to defuse possible conflicts in downtown Gießen.

This rally, which took place under the motto "never again", was organized by a loose alliance and started at 3 p.m. on Berliner Platz. Mayor Alexander Wright (Greens) emphasized the importance of cohesion and diversity in society in his speech. The demo train led via the new powers and the fire square to the church square, where various speakers, including the Protestant pastor Gabriel Brand, spoke about discrimination and integration.

However, this blockade was quickly dissolved by the police. The calls from the groups were directed against the police, with slogans like "German police officers protect the fascists" and "Where were you in Hanau?". The police asked the assembly participants to name a meeting manager, but this did not happen.
In addition, the police in Ederstrasse checked a group of twelve people who were also assigned to the demonstration on Berliner Platz. Here, masking objects and passive armament were ensured. A total of seven men and three women were released, while two people with animal defense spray were temporarily arrested. The police also investigated assault and breach of the peace.
As a precaution, emergency services were also posted at the CDU Konrad-Adenauer-Haus in Spenerweg in order to prevent possible attacks and ensure security.
