New Year's baby in Groß-Umstadt: A new life for 2025!

On January 1, 2025, Linus Reeh was born the first baby of the year in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district clinic in Groß-Umstadt. Little Linus was born at 0:34 a.m., weighs 3,300 grams and measures 54 centimeters. His parents, Nadine and Pascal from Breuberg, are happy about their newcomer in the family.

In order to strengthen the offer for expectant parents, the district clinic organizes an information evening on January 7th at 6 p.m. The topics of the evening include pregnancy, birth, puerperium and preventive examinations. This offers an opportunity to get to know the team of the district clinic and clarify open questions. In addition, the "Early Aid" department in Darmstadt-Dieburg published a brochure with the title "Pregnant-now-now? A guide for mothers, fathers and parents". This brochure provides an overview of the offers of help in the district and the city of Darmstadt and is digitally available on the district's website.

Information about the brochure and births

The brochure is divided into two parts: the first part deals with offers before birth, including prenatal studies and birth preparation courses. The second part informs about support offers after birth, such as advice centers and information on parental allowance and child benefit.

A look at the birth rate shows that a total of 314 births took place in the Groß-Umstadt district clinic in 2023, which corresponds to a decline of 47 newborns compared to 2022. The first birth in 2024 took place on January 2 at 3:43 am; The New Year's baby was called Ylvi and weighed 3,260 grams at a size of 51 cm.

In spring 2024, the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics will move to new, state -of -the -art premises. The new delivery rooms are to be the most modern birthplace in southern Hesse. According to Christoph Dahmen, manager, and Alexander Ispas, chief physician, the responsible persons are optimistic that they can counteract the declining trend of the birth rate, in particular through high number of visitors to information evenings that show a strong interest.
