The Schiersteiner Bridge, a heavily frequented connection between Wiesbaden and Mainz, has led to a worrying increase in traffic accidents in the past few years and a half. Since October 2023, there have been 19 accidents at this point, with the last serious incidents being due to unclear lane markings and excessive speeds. The bridge narrowed from three in two traces towards Bingen, which presents many drivers with challenges. On March 6, 2025, in the early morning, there was another accident in which a driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the concrete delimitation. The Autobahn GmbH also plans initiatives to visualize the crop. This includes not only the improvement of the road markings, but also the attachment of turning arrows that should be helpful to the drivers.
