Frankfurt is fighting noise and garbage in the Alt-Sachsenhausen party district!

On May 11, 2025, a new approach to improve the quality of life in the popular party district of Alt-Sachsenhausen will be presented in Frankfurt. The city plans measures to calm the area, which is often criticized by residents for nightly noise and pollution. Security department Annette Rinn (FDP) has presented a concept that aims at increased security, cleanliness and improved quality of living. A central element is the increased control of restaurants and visitors to better enforce rules for noise protection and youth protection. According to FAZ.net the focus of the controls is based on nights and evenings.

The problems in the quarter are diverse: wild peeing and carelessly throwing away food packaging are among the most common complaints of the residents. Procedure to combat these grievances include noise measurements and the imposition of warning funds for illegal waste disposal. With regard to the ongoing noise, there will be no new locking hours for the time being, since the design of nightlife is deliberately not to lead to a "Frankfurt Ballermann".

stronger controls and educational campaigns

The city police will play a central role in the controls in the future. These are aimed at compliance with the special use statute of the catering and youth protection. There will also be a reconnaissance campaign entitled "Celebrate with respect", which aims to position the quarter positively. Trained “carers” should work on site and support to promote better cooperation.

In addition, an interim balance sheet is sought in July 2025 as part of the measures in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes that come into force. If necessary, further steps, such as temporary alcohol bans or increased lighting, could be considered from August.

fight against invasive species and stricter waste guidelines

Another current topic concerns the invasive Nilgans, which causes problems in particular in Wiesbaden and the surrounding area. Despite the actions of the city to combat this kind, difficulties are shown because many of these initiatives are sabotaged. In certain cases, experts recommend shooting individual animals to control the population and reduce damage.

In addition, stricter rules for the disposal of organic waste have been introduced since the beginning of May. Plastic packaging is no longer allowed in the biotons, as this leads to problems with waste processing. The consistent compliance with these new requirements is important, since the waste bins can stop on the day of the collection if the regulations are not observed.

The developments in Frankfurt are not only important locally. Similar efforts to improve security and cleanliness can be found in many cities, such as the Initiative "Cleanliness and feeling of security in large settlements" in Berlin. The focus is on involvement and correct communication with the population in order to increase the long-term living satisfaction ( berlin.de ). )

Overall, it turns out that the city of Frankfurt is determined to respond to the concerns of the residents and at the same time to make the nightly life responsible in the neighborhood. A significant improvement in the situation is sought with planned measures and educational campaigns.
