Large construction projects in Gedern: Fire Brigade and daycare center start!

On March 8, 2025, the city council of Gedern decided during a meeting important orders for two important projects that are intended to significantly improve the infrastructure in the region. The focus is on the construction of a fire station and the installation/renovation work at the "Wichteltal" daycare center in Ober-Seemen. These projects are supported with a financing of 4.5 million euros from the Hessian investment fund and contribute to the many municipal investments in Hesse, which will flow into different areas this year to increase the quality of life on site.

The company MWH GmbH from Simmern was awarded the contract for the carpentry work in the daycare center, with an order amount of 108,000 euros gross. The costs for the carpentry work had previously been estimated at around 174,000 euros. The surcharge for Lautertal Hasert GmbH from Lauterbach, which is also charged for the carpentry work in the new fire station of the fire station, was also significantly cheaper, which is also below the expectations, reports fnp.de .

completion time and container solution

The new construction of the "Wichteltal" daycare center will probably be completed in the summer of 2025, with space for two groups in the new building. During the renovation work on the old daycare building, the children have to be temporarily accommodated in a container system that is installed on the fairground in Ober-Seemen. The cost of renting and assembling these containers amounts to 280,000 euros for a period of nine months. Mayor Guido Kempel optimistically commented on this solution and believed that it was the best option in terms of functionality and costs.

In addition to these projects, a unanimous decision to draw up a development plan for a new wood chipping system was made in Ober-Seemen. This system is intended to help expand the local heating network of an agricultural operation and to supply further properties with heat.

Financial support and investments in Hesse

Hesse's finance minister Michael Boddenberg (CDU) underlined the importance of municipal investments in the region and pointed out that a total of 137 project applications in Hesse were approved, which include a loan volume of almost 250 million euros to improve municipal infrastructure. A large part of these investments flows into schools, while areas such as childcare, road construction and fire protection are also taken into account. Over 2,800 loans with a total volume of almost 3 billion euros have been provided in the past 21 years, which will also have an effect in Gedern.

Various forms of loan via the Hesse Economic and Infrastructure Bank are available, including interest-legged capital market loans, which are still very much in demand despite rising interest rates. Wetterau.News Listet on the financial support for different regions in Hesse, the city of Frankfurt The largest beneficiary is with more than 31.5 million euros.

The city councils in Gedern have also discussed another financial topic: the possible accession to the establishment of a company for affordable living space in the Wetteraukreis. However, a corresponding decision has been set up for the time being, while the city council discussed a regular contribution of 2,000 euros.

The progress in these projects reflects the will of the Gederner city councilors to face the challenges of the infrastructure and to further improve the quality of life for the citizens.
