Kirch-Göns celebrates 875 years: a festival full of music and tradition!

On March 23, 2025, a festive academic celebration took place in the multi-purpose hall of Kirch-Göns, which was dedicated to the 875th anniversary of the place. The event was visited by numerous official representatives, citizens and guests from the surrounding communities. Interior Minister Roman Poseck did not miss the opportunity to attend the celebration and to support the anniversary celebrations. The appearance of the former fanfare train of the Kirch-Gön volunteer fire brigade was particularly impressive.

The fanfare train, which was originally founded in 1961 and later merged with the Spielmannszug, was founded in 2000 and played the main year at the celebration under the direction of Egon Krämer, who took over after the death of Helmut Rühl last year. A special mention applies to the oldest members who have an average of 75.5 years. The oldest musician, Hans-Peter Tiedemann, is 87 years old, followed by Erwin Reinhard and Egon Krämer, both of whom are 84 years old.

insights into history

The fanfare train prepared for the performance for weeks and presented two marches that were first performed in 1962. Gerhard Binzer also presented a historical poster from 1964, which documented the appearance in the Waldstadion during a football game between the SGE Frankfurt and Liverpool. This valuable piece of history was made by Pastor i. R. William Thum gratefully accepted. The appearance of the fanfare train received a standing ovation and represented an emotional connection point for the tradition of the place.

In addition to this solemn event, events were also held in the Kirch-Göns marquee. On Friday evening, the Farmyard DJ team provided a lively disco atmosphere, despite the incessant rain. However, visitors could not be stopped, which underlined the inviting character of the celebration. Appearances of local groups such as "Men in Black" and "Kirchgieser Love-Boys" were rewarded with great applause and contributed to the exuberant mood.

music and conviviality

On the following Saturday evening, the marquee filled for the concert of the "Trekwalder". This band from Tyrol delighted the audience with modern folk music and showed a refreshing deviation of typical television programs in the field of folk music. The audience encouraged the first hit "zero problem", which significantly increased the mood in the tent. Many visitors stood on benches, clapped and celebrated until the late hours. The evening ended with several encores and an autograph session that attracted numerous new fans.

The celebrations, both the academic and the musical events, are part of the comprehensive anniversary activities that celebrated the heir and the community in Kirch-Göns. In order to further document the history of the place, the Chronicle Committee continues to look for material, in particular newspaper reports on Kirch-Göns in recent years. These entries are intended to give the anniversary celebration in 2025 additional shine and the development of the village.

in a world in which the past quickly forgotten, Kirch-Göns stopped on this day and celebrated his rich history together with young and old. A strong sign of community and the connection with the traditions of the place.
