Police Hesse starts Instagram revival with cop-influencern!

Today, on February 12, 2025, the Hessen police started a new Initiative to strengthen their presence on social media and introduce the public to police work. Seven officials and candidates are now active as a "cop-influencer" on Instagram. Influencers include police commissioner Serhat, police commissioner Selina, police commissioner Paula, police chief commissioner Christopher as well as the criminal commissioner Sarah and Kim and police commissioner Nemanja.

The initiative has the motto "more than flashing lights", with the aim of giving authentic insights into the police work. The newly launched Instagram channels should provide information on various topics, including prevention work. The official presentation of the channels took place in the Innovation Hub 110 in Frankfurt, in which representatives of all police headquarters took part.

targeted recruitment of young talent

At the event,

Interior Minister Roman Poseck emphasized how important young talent is for the Hesse police. With this innovative form of communication, the police would like to address young people and encourage them to be interested in a career with the police. Last year, the Hessian police recorded over 4,700 applications and was able to fill all 645 vacancies. This shows the great interest in police work and the effectiveness of such projects.

Another important aspect of this initiative is the constant expansion of the applicant group. Dr. Seubert, President of the Hessian University for Public Management and Security, emphasized that social media play a key role in the choice of career and study of young people. Through the interaction with this target group via platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, the police would like to convey a modern and contemporary picture of their work.

expansion of social media presence

The Hessen police have been active on social media since January 22, 2015 and has gradually expanded its platforms. In addition to Instagram, the authorities are also represented on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Citizens can receive information on security issues, job offers and other topics via the various Facebook pages of the Hesse police.

The Hesse police intends to further expand their social media strategy and to create even more authentic content that should strengthen the trust of citizens in the police. The introduction of the “cop-influencer” is a significant step in this direction and could make an important contribution to modern police work.
