City library Worms: Lale Mebert wins exciting reading competition!
On February 19, an exciting reading competition took place in the Worms city library, which put the reading engagement of young students in the foreground. Six talented students from Worms competed against each other to win the title of the city winner and to secure the opportunity to represent the city in the district and country decision. All participants already brought experience in reading in front of a jury.
The jury made up of well-known personalities: Martin Wilms from the city mission, last year's winner Jule Nitzschke, Beate Harthausen from the Alpha-Buchhandlung Worms and Annika Sinner, editor of the Wormser Zeitung. Reading technology, text design and the understanding of text of the young readers were assessed. In Rhineland-Palatinate, Léni Falkenstein from the Otto-Schott-Gymnasium in Mainz won the title and was recently even voted the Federal Championships in Berlin. This happened in the summer after he took part in the state decision in the school of last year's winner.
in Saarland, Morena Caldara was crowned the winner from the high school on Stefansberg in Merzig. The state decision in Saarland took place organizationally in the forum of the Saarbrücker Zeitung. All readers received a certificate and book prices, while the three winners were invited to the federal final, which takes place from June 17th to 19th in Berlin during the major final event.
A total of almost 7,000 school winners from all over Germany took part in the competitions this year, and the regional rounds of the first stage started at the end of January.
