Benches on the ZOB in Fulda removed: What is the city plans now?
At the central omnibus train station (ZOB) in Fulda, the benches were removed, a measure that is justified with the increased pollution by deaf drainage and the associated cleaning effort. Press spokeswoman Monika Kowoll-Ferger explained that the dirt gathered under the benches in particular on the floor and made it difficult to clean thoroughly. These circumstances led to the decision to remove the seating furniture to ensure the cleanliness of the ZOB. The current construction measures are part of a comprehensive renovation project that also affects the train station and its surroundings.
The ZOB is in the immediate vicinity of the train station, which is to be subjected to comprehensive renovation from March 2024. As part of this work, new seating, which are designed in the form of large, smooth cuboids. These cuboids are not only easier to clean, but also space -saving, which is of great importance in view of the narrow and strongly frequented bus pies. The new seating furniture is expected to be designed in a gray-tone and will soon be installed, even if the exact time remains unclear.
construction work and traffic measures
In addition to the changes on the ZOB, construction projects run in parallel in Gaswerkstrasse. Barriers for cars and bicycles have been set up, while pedestrians can continue to use the underpass at the train station. The old asphalt ceiling and paving stones were almost completely removed to make room for the new constructions. Luminous-orange information signs were also hung on trees to announce the new ZOB to the road users.
The design of the new gas works road takes on forms. New curbs are already visible and the asphalting is underway. The new ZOB is expected to be put into operation from mid -January 2024. Not only the ZOB itself is redesigned, but also the entire forecourt is subjected to a redesign. The official traffic release for the new ZOB and the surrounding roads will take place on March 11, 2024, on this day the citizens' bus lines should also depart from the new location.
conversion of the station and long -term perspectives
The conversion of the Fulda train station, which is also part of a nationwide renovation concept, starts earlier than originally planned. This conversion, which is called ALS3 project, focuses on the creation of barrier-free access and the installation of new elevators. The conversion is realized in several sections and should be completed by 2028.
The city of Fulda is pleased with the start of the construction work and has preceded intensive discussions and preliminary considerations in order to enable implementation. The anticipation is great, especially because the Fulda train station is a decisive transfer of transfer in German rail traffic. Overall, the project combines essential infrastructural improvements with a future -oriented orientation for mobility in the region.
