Great fire at Rhönprudel: 280 firefighters save the location!
On April 9, 2025, a devastating major fire broke out on the grounds of the Rhönsprudel company in the Weyher district of the municipality of Ebersburg, Fulda district. From 2:30 p.m., hundreds of empty boxes were on fire. The flames spread quickly after wood pallets had initially caught fire and finally the beverage crates. Fortunately, there were only one, but the incident mobilized a large contingent of emergency services.
A total of around 280 emergency services were involved in the extinguishing rate, including 238 firefighters from Ebersburg, Fulda, Gersfeld and Eichenzell. The German Red Cross (DRK) and the DLRG also use drones to explore the situation. The extinguishing and watching work dragged on until the early morning hours of the following day, since the measures for fire fighting were complex and had to be carried out precisely.
emergency services and support
The cooperation between the different emergency services was crucial for the containment of the fire. District Administrator Bernd Woide and district fire inspector Adrian Vogler thanked the numerous helpers in a press release and emphasized the excellent cooperation between the fire brigade, police and other organizations, including the THW and various water authorities. The farmers were also ready to support and provided water barrels. An excavator was used to effectively carry out post -extinguishing work.
The visibility of the viewed clouds of smoke was noticeable to Fulda and the Wasserkuppe, which led to a warning for the population. The water supply was secured by a nearby stream and the water barrels of farmers. From 4:30 p.m. the emergency services had managed to control the fire, but the extinguishing work continued.
technical and organizational processes
The emergency services used various techniques to combat the fire. A fire wall and the installed solar panels contributed to limiting the spread of the fire, which was crucial to prevent major damage. Rhönsprudel employees actively helped to put undamaged beverage crates aside and thus minimize a possible loss.
The measures taken to fight fire and the fast reaction of the emergency services once again show how important well -organized emergency planning and the cooperation of various institutions are. Even if the exact cause of the fire is currently being determined, these incidents can provide valuable findings on fire prevention in the future. According to the Institute for Damage prevention and damage research are frequent causes of fire.
