The location was a Staples branch before the planned conversion that has been empty for over two years. According to Penny-Markt GmbH, the building application for change in use was submitted to the city of Fulda in 2024 and received the necessary approval. Nevertheless, the renovation is challenging what Anne Behrendt, assistant to the Südwest region of Penny Markt GmbH, confirms.
construction work and future plans
Behrendt explained that the company is currently planning the next steps in close coordination with various specialist companies. However, a specific construction period cannot be created at the moment. The decision to open a Penny market at this location came after the completion of OfficeCentre GmbH, which registered bankruptcy in February 2022. The new Penny market will offer a variety of items on a sales area of around 800 square meters, up to 3,500. The concept aims to integrate optimized customer management and special themed worlds on the shelves, which should upgrade the shopping experience as a whole.
