Carnival fever in Fulda: An unforgettable invasion of invasion!

On February 28, 2025, the traditional invasion of the Fulda Fastnachtsvereine took place in the gymnasium of Antonius. This event is the highlight of the carnival campaign and illustrates the close bond from Antonius to the carnivalists. At 4:13 p.m. Silke Gabrowitsch from the Antonius leadership team opened the program. Ulrike Rutkowski and Carsten Schütz took over the moderation, who received support from the greatness of "de Jong" Kristof Bromm and "de Maje" Marie Gatzka.

The invasion of invading offered visitors a varied performance that began with the Florengäßner Brunnenzeche and also included the Carneval Club Haimbach and the southern Fulda. The Sickels Bürger Fastnacht, represented by the owner of the landlord Anja and Wolfgang and the child's mistress Lotta, was also present at the event.

Another highlight was the participation of the Fulda Carnival Society (FKG) with Prince Johannes Caravanicus and his entourage. The prince expressed the desire to maintain the positive mood of the evening in the rest of the year. The Fulda Freizeit & Carneval Club (FFCK) also celebrated its 55th anniversary and enriched the evening with its presence.

The commitment of the seven friends of the carnival associations, including Turkish Association, Fulda Freizeit and Carneval Club as well as Aschenberger Wolkenkratzer, reflects the cultural diversity and the connection within the region. Entry to this event was free, with which a broader population could be addressed.

historical context of the Fastnacht

The roots of the Fastnacht go back to the Middle Ages and are closely associated with the time of Christian Lent. Before the 40-day Lent, the population had to use perishable food such as eggs and meat, which favored the festivities. The term "carnival" comes from "FaStenschank", the last alcohol bar before this time. Despite its deep religious anchoring, Fastnacht was reluctantly accepted by the Catholic Church, since it was often seen as a devilish counter -world at Lent.

Fastnacht is not only an expression of local traditions today, but is also recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. These authentic celebrations are a reflection of social developments and increasingly integrate all population groups, including refugees. The cultural power of Fastnacht also manifests itself in the form of political criticism and social issues that strengthen the community spirit.

The sociable end of the invasion of the invasion left the participants in the anticipation for next year. The fools and carnivalists gave the desire to remain part of this colorful, festive tradition in the future. These events and their cultural elements will continue to shape Lent and social life in Fulda.
