On May 1, 2025, the Rosenau outdoor pool in Fulda welcomed its guests with a consistently positive atmosphere and a high number of visitors. At the beginning of the season there were over 2000 visitors who wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather and the opening of the freshly renovated bath. Dr. Volker Nies, spokesman for the Rhönenergie Group, described the mood as peaceful, happy and solved. The water temperature was a pleasant 22.5 degrees, which attracted many families and day trippers.
There was a special tradition for the first 100 bathers: everyone received a rose from the employees of the rose pool. The kiosk in the outdoor pool was heavily frequented. Courts such as pizza, kebab and fresh ice cream were particularly popular. The outdoor pool opened at 9 a.m. and closed at 8 p.m. For the early swimmers there was the opportunity to do a few laps in the water from 7 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.

For example, over 1,600 visitors came to the opening day in 2012 when the bathroom welcomed new guests under the influence of sunny weather with temperatures up to 25 degrees Celsius. This is how the start of the season, which was ceremoniously celebrated in Fulda and Petersberg. The first guests waited at 10 a.m., although the outdoor pool only opened at 11 a.m.
The operations manager Peter Bolz and Michael Lipus remembered that fries were sold out on the first day and the cafeteria with offers such as homemade Hamburgers, fresh salads, ice cream and cake. The popular kiosk in the outdoor pool contributes to the festive atmosphere and always attracts numerous hungry.

Similar tendencies were also shown in other regions such as Schleswig-Holstein, where outdoor pools began in May 2024 with record visits. Some bathrooms recorded up to 4,000 visitors on the opening days. However, the increasing demand for outdoor leisure activities has also led to a shortage of skilled workers. Many lifeguards and swimmers are missing in terms of care for the swimming pools. The outdoor pools often rely on support from DLRG rescue swimmers.The admission prices remained stable, with single tickets for adults between 3 and 6 euros and for children between 1 and 4 euros. Despite these challenges, the outdoor pools have prepared themselves for the season and hope for similar visitor numbers as in previous years.
