Art in hard rain: Bob Dylan's songs awaken the canvas to life!

The new exhibition at the Vonderau Museum in Fulda, "A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall. A song will be a canvas", opened on January 29, 2025 at 7 p.m. and can be seen there until March 2, 2025 and until March 16, 2025 in the gallery in front of the mirror halls in the city palace Fulda. This event honors the influence of Bob Dylan's famous song from 1962, which inspired numerous artists both musically and artistically. Admission to the Vonderau Museum is 3.50 euros (reduced 2.30 euros), while admission to the city palace is free of charge. Entry to the Vonderau Museum is also free for young people up to 25 years.

Almost 70 works by around 50 artists are presented in the exhibition, including works from Germany, Denmark and New Zealand. Among the participants are well -known artists such as Helme Heine, Rudi Hurzlmeier and Stephan Balkenhol. The work shown benefits from a wide range of techniques and styles, including sculptures and installations that show a creative examination of Dylan's texts.

artistic diversity and thematic depth

The exhibition aims not to present 1: 1 illustrations of the songs, but to offer complex interpretations and personal approaches to Dylan's work. Leszek Skurski shows 32 portraits of fallen soldiers from the Ukraine War in his work "24.2.2022-Where Soul's are forgotten". This critical examination of the current war events adds an important contemporary perspective to the exhibition.

Other artists, such as Gerd Röder, take up the topic of war in a humorous way by showing a watercolor that represents the Snoopy on an upside down dog house. Ink, also part of the exhibition, presents a detailed pencil portrait of an old person entitled "View of Eternity". Balkenhol's wooden sculpture, on the other hand, conveys a picture of a man who desperately tries to protect himself from the "hard rain".

opening and accompanying program

The vernissage is opened by Holk Freytag, the former director of the Bad Hersfeld Festival, and promises an impressive experience for both invited guests and the public. Accompanying this exhibition, the Gallery Pictures Fuchs at the Abbstor in Fulda Bob Dylan's own work from the series "His own Beaten Pathes", which will be shown until March 8th.

In addition, a catalog with 108 pages is available, which was published for the exhibition and can be purchased at PARZELLERS at a price of 12.95 euros. This exhibition is part of a series that has had a tradition in Fulda since 2012, with previous exhibitions in 2015, 2018 and 2021, which have also dealt with Bob Dylan's music, as Hessenschau.de reports.
