New Year's Eve in Fulda: Focus on firecrackers and security measures!

On December 31, 2024, a comprehensive ban on fireworks in the old town comes into force in Fulda. This affects the entire area around the cathedral square, where the burning of fireworks due to the narrow streets is not possible without complying with the legally defined safety distance of eight meters to important buildings.

Although New Year's Eve fireworks are a popular tradition, it often brings dangers with it, especially due to improper burning down. The city of Fulda has therefore decided to ban fireworks near churches, hospitals, children's and old people's homes as well as half-timbered houses. Pyrotechnics are also prohibited outside the old town if the safety distance from these facilities cannot be met.

environmental and safety instructions

In addition to the safety precautions, the city of Fulda asks the population for responsible use of pyrotechnics, especially with regard to the discussion about fine dust loads. Fireworks can reach temperatures of up to 2,000 degrees and are potentially fire -safe.

The regulatory office also appeals to the citizens to properly dispose of burned fireworks. In order to counteract the increased amount of garbage in places where the burning is allowed, additional trash cans are set up in the city center to promote a clean environment.
