Accident escape on the A66: Police are urgently looking for witnesses!
A serious incident occurred on Thursday, February 6, 2025, on the A66 near Langenselbold in the direction of Fulda. An accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the 19-year-old driver of a white Dacia Duster was pressed by an unknown handlebar of a black SUV with HU license plate. This changed from the right to the left lane and overlooked the Dacia, which forced the driver to an evasive maneuver.
In this maneuver, the Dacia touched the center protection schedule, which significantly damaged the vehicle over the entire left side. The property damage incurred is estimated at around 10,000 euros. However, the SUV driver continued his journey without fulfilling his duties as an accident. The police are now looking for witnesses who can provide information on the incident or the fleeting vehicle. Interested parties can contact the Langenselbold police motorway station on the phone number (0618) 3911550.
another incident and investigation
Interestingly, an unusual emergency call occurred just one day after the accident. A woman was reported who shot a car with an arrow and bow. The investigation into this incident is still underway and could be on the highway in a further connection with the feeling of security.A look into the past shows that the A66 is not foreign to tragic events. In October 2020, an uninvolved 71-year-old driver died on the same section of the route as a result of a presumably illegal car race. The trial of the accused, which are at the age of 30, 33 and 38, began this week at the Frankfurt district court. In this race, in which two Lamborghinis and a Porsche were involved, a frightening speed of over 235 km/h was reached. The drivers initially faced serious allegations, including even murder, but the indictment was finally limited to participation in a forbidden car race.
The 38-year-old defendant is held responsible for the fatal incident, while a fourth driver who committed a driving error is considered the trigger of the collision. During the trial, the accused men did not comment on the allegations, and the 30-year-old accused stood on the same day of the police, while the 38-year-old was arrested by 2021. The dramatic incident, in which the 71-year-old died, not only left family tragedies behind, but also raises questions about security on the motorways and the role of illegal car racing in the region.
