Mourning for club legend: Walter Frei died at the age of 70!

FC Alemannia Niederbruch has to accept a serious loss. Walter Frei, a personality of the association that is considered a "club legend", died last Friday at the age of 70. According to Mittelhessen.de he is described as the "good soul of the club" and leaves a large gap in the club family.

Walter Frei was not only a member for over 60 years, but also played over 1000 games in the senior teams and old men of the FCA. His tireless efforts were recognized with the HFV badge in bronze, the DFB honorary office award and honorary membership in the FCA. Frei was actively involved in the construction of the new club home between 2012 and 2013 and had worked most of all members. He had also served in various committees of the association: four years in the youth committee, 20 years in the game committee and 30 years in the Economic Committee, 15 years of them as its chairman.

honors and services

his outstanding merits for the association were recognized in a general assembly, in which rallies also took place over further honors. In addition to Walter Frei, Josef Geis and Walter Lang were honored for 70 years of membership. Hartmut Gattinger, Werner Schmitt and Manfred Disper were honored for 50 years of membership. Several members, including Peter Jung, Thomas Ehrlich and David Hauptvogel, also received honors for 25 years of belonging. Walter Frei was also the carrier of the HFV honorary office, which Jürgen Frey presented to him in a special ceremony, which was supplemented by a present and an invitation to a weekend in Grünberg, such as fnp.de reported.

The funeral fair for Walter Frei will take place next Saturday at 11 a.m. in the parish church in Niederbruch, followed by the funeral. His remarkable life story and his commitment to football and its community are also part of a major discussion about the culture and promotion of volunteering in football, which is treated in various research work, as shown in an article by Bernd Schulze. In particular, the need is addressed that associations respect traditional volunteer culture and at the same time develop modern funding strategies to support sport.

sustainable development of the association

the FCA Niederbruch plans to ensure the basis for further growth and promotion of sport in the future. In the next meeting, the establishment of a support association will be discussed in order to improve the financial aspects for the new clubhouse. During the general assembly it was also reported that despite the financial burdens by the new clubhouse, the budgetary situation remains solid.
Klaus Stillger was also confirmed for the 15th time as the first chairman, which means that the association can rely on a stable management structure. Newly elected positions on the board show that the association is also well positioned for the future.
