Heuchelheim mourns the loss of carnival presidents - Fasching fails!
The Heuchelheimer Carnevalverein (HCV) surprisingly ended the 2025 carnival campaign. The reason for this is the death of Ulrich Jung, the President of the HCV, who died on February 25, 2025. The association announced that the campaign will be immediately ended out of respect for the deceased and its relatives. This was a sad moment for the members and supporters of the HCV, since Jung played a central role in club life for many years.
The popular carnival parade in Heuchelheim will not take place this year. The move is one of the largest in the region and attracts many carnivalists from the surrounding area every year. Numerous participants and motif cars who are known for their loving and elaborate design were already registered for 2025. These cars often express political and social allusions and are a highlight of the event.cancel and respect
In addition to the Heuchelheim carnival parade, the large ceremonial session planned for Rose Monday and the large move on the carnival day were canceled. The HCV Presidium called on a session on Tuesday evening, in which the decision was made to end the campaign. The HCV also canceled its participation in the moves in Wetzlar and Gießen. These events are regional part of the carnival season and enjoy great popularity. The situation has not only affected Heuchelheim. The carnival parade in Marburg was also canceled because the train from the city center to Afföller is not financially portable. A new concept is to be developed in order to be able to continue this important tradition next year.
The meaning of the carnival
The cancellation of the events in Heuchelheim is particularly painful because the carnival in Germany has a deeply rooted tradition. Carnival, fasteloving or carnival divides opinions, but it has been celebrated in Catholic dominated regions such as Hessen for centuries. Elements such as eating, drinking and mockery about powerful are still central to these festivities. In Protestant areas, the carnival has only gained popularity in the past 30 years.
The carnival period traditionally begins on November 11th and is accompanied by numerous events that reach their climax in the week before Ash Wednesday. Spectators expect creative costumes and imaginative motif cars, while the removals vary from small local events to large, national trains. A particularly well -known example is the Cologne Rosenmontagszug, which attracts up to 1 million viewers and mobilizes over 10,000 active participants.
