Carnival in Heuchelheim: Mourning for President Ulrich Jung, move is canceled!

On February 27, 2025, the Heuchelheimer Carnevalverein (HCV) announced the immediate termination of the 2025 carnival campaign. This happened surprisingly and with a deep feeling of grief. The reason for this step is the death of Ulrich Jung, the President of the HCV, who died on February 25, 2025. The association has decided to hire the carnival out of respect for the deceased and its relatives.

The traditional carnival period in Heuchelheim should be celebrated this year with a magnificent carnival parade and a large splendor meeting on Rose Monday. However, these two events and the big move on carnival day were canceled. The carnival parade in Heuchelheim is one of the largest in the region and attracts carnivalists from the surrounding area. His elaborately designed cars, which often take up political and social issues, are particularly well known.

consequences of the cancellation

The decision of the HCV also has an impact on other events. The association canceled its participation in the moves in Wetzlar and Gießen. The cancellations show how much Ulrich Jung's death affected the carnival life in the region. Refunds for the already purchased admission tickets for the large splendor meeting can be requested by email to info@hcvonline.de

In addition, the city of Marburg has announced that it can cancel its carnival parade because its implementation is not financially portable. New concepts are to be developed here to continue tradition in the future.

While in Catholic regions such as Hessen Carnival for centuries, it has only become popular in Protestant areas for about 30 years. Elements such as cladding, songs and celebrating festivals shape this time that draws millions of people on the streets every year.

The carnival period traditionally begins on January 6th and flows into a hot phase that begins on Thursday before Ash Wednesday. This busy time culminates in colorful moves, in which creative costumes and elaborately designed motif cars inspire the audience.
