Hessen strengthens quality of life: 406,000 euros for community work!

This day, the Hessian state government approved the continuation of community work in the cities of Erlensee, Bruchköbel and Main Valley. The funding decision was ceremoniously presented by State Secretary Manuela Strube to the first district deputy Andreas Hofmann. This special event took place in the presence of Mayor Stefan Erb from Erlensee, Mayor Sylvia Braun from Bruchköbel and the first city councilor Karl-Heinz Kaiser from Maintal.

The granted funding amounts are remarkable: Maintal receives 100,000 euros, Bruchköbel 150,000 euros and Erlensee is supported with 156,000 euros. The aim of community work is to improve the quality of life in quarters that are faced with social and integration -political challenges. With this approach, Hessen has been pursuing the goal of supporting such projects and thus sustainable living conditions.

projects with social focus

like mkk-echo.de have been reported in Bruchköbel since 2018 that focus on the integration of people from different cultures. In Erlensee-Rückingen, the foundation stone for community work was laid in 2018, with the focus on the redesign of the Römer playground. In addition, the Bischofsheim district center in Maintal has been funded since 2017, which serves as a contact point for the local community.

The importance of contacts to the people in these quarters is emphasized by the parties. Andreas Hofmann underlined the need for adequate spatial and financial resources to ensure successful integration.

funding program and guidelines

The "Community work" funding program was put up as part of the Hessian social budget and the Hessian action plan for the integration of refugees. The aim is to support the sustainable positive development in quarters with special social and integration-political challenges in Hesse, so Community work-hessen.de .

The new guideline for promoting community work came into force on December 2, 2019 after the first guideline was evaluated and revised. The funding refers to selected quarters characterized by social problems. This applies in particular to areas with limited access to social resources and poorer living conditions. Interested municipalities have to verify and explain these social disadvantages in their funding applications.

application and support

The application for new projects under the funding program can be made from 2026 to October 31, 2025 at the Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs. This also applies to existing projects that want to exceed the approved funding period. The community work of the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft social fountains e.V. Hessen, which offers advice, knowledge transfer and further training for actors who want to improve living conditions in disadvantaged districts, offers important support.

For administrative questions, interested parties can contact the Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs at the E-E-EMPRESSGENGEUNDWARK@HSM.Hessen.de. The organization thus confirms its commitment to an integrative and supportive society in Hesse. However, units such as the influx of refugees or demographic changes are not considered special challenges in the sense of the funding program.
