Hessen is preparing for the frosty nights of winter!
Hessen stands before the coldest night of winter, since the temperatures are expected between -13 and -7 degrees on Tuesday night. In North and Central Hesse, the cold could be even more extreme, with forecast values below -10 degrees. These frosty conditions are the result of a cold front and a high-pressure zone via western to northern Europe, which brings clear and windless weather and reinforces the cold. Meteorologist Marcel Herber explains that temperatures of up to -12 degrees can even be reached in some places.
On Monday, maximum temperatures from -4 to 1 degrees are forecast, while the temperatures on Tuesday could rise to -1 to 3 degrees. Despite this slight warming, it usually remains sunny during the day, so that there is no prospect. However, frost and smoothness are to be expected, especially in the early morning hours, since fog with visibility can last under 150 meters until the morning.
Weather view for the coming days
future weather conditions indicate that it remains mostly cloudy on Tuesday, with the possibility of spraying rain in the afternoon. This precipitation can freeze and thus provide additional smoothness. The temperatures will move in a range of 0 to 3 degrees. On Wednesday, a gray sky with another spraying rain is also expected, with the maximum temperatures between 1 and 4 degrees.
Especially the coldest day of winter, the December 1st, brought an icy measurement of -7.6 degrees in Bad Hersfeld. The combination of frosty temperatures and little light due to fog currently shapes the weather in Hesse. These extreme winter conditions require increased caution on the streets from the residents.
This cold period may be perceived as uncomfortable, but also harbors the possibility of winter activities that can be enjoyed in the cold days. The weather conditions are observed carefully, since from the middle of the week, moist air is announced from the North Sea, which could possibly lead to cloudy and foggy weather. However, the current high pressure remains, which is why there is no significant rain for the time being.
