Constant birth number in the district: Bad Hersfeld continued to be attractive!

In the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg, the birth rate is also constant in 2024. According to the registry office in Bad Hersfeld, a total of 828 births were registered by December 19. A total number between 843 and 848 is expected for the period until the turn of the year.

The comparative figures from the previous year 2023 put the births to 842. If the birth rate in recent years is considered, it turns out that 2022 866 births were recorded, in 2021 it was 835, while in 2020 there were still 905 births. The highest value in 20 years was reached in 2016 with 1,043 births, while in 2009 the lowest number was recorded with only 797 births.

The registry office is responsible for all births in the Bad Hersfeld Clinic, the only obstetrical station in the district. Home births are rare; In 2024 there was only one. The months of birth were in July 90 and October with 85 births, while February 57 and May with 63 births were the weakest months.

The gender distribution of the newborns shows 423 girls (51.09%) and 405 boys (48.91%). In addition, four twin births were registered: once two girls, once two young and twice mixed twins. Unfortunately, there were also seven dead births and four follow -up of births abroad. Interestingly, only 30% of the parents of the newborns live in the district town of Bad Hersfeld. The closure of the birth station in Hünfeld has not yet affected the birth rate in Bad Hersfeld.

The overarching development shows that the birth rate in Germany is generally declining. From January to September 2024 there were around 509,000 births, which corresponds to a decline of 2.9% compared to 2023. In 2023, 692,989 births were registered, which corresponds to a decline of 6.2% compared to 2022. The last birth number below 700,000 was recorded in 2013, as Destatis.de reported.
