Prime Minister Rhein welcomes Sternsinger: Hope for children's rights!
On January 22, 2025, Hessen received Prime Minister Boris Rhein The Sternsinger from various parishes in the Hessian State Chancellery in Wiesbaden. The participating parishes include St. Clemens Maria in Immenhausen and Heilig Geist in Vellmar, both in the diocese of Fulda, as well as St. Franziskus and Klara in Neu-Anspach (Diocese of Limburg) and Heilig Geist on Bergstrasse in Bensheim (Diocese of Mainz). Rhein emphasized that the star singers stand for values such as hope, solidarity and humanity.
This year's Sternsinger campaign is under the motto "Collect your voice. Stern singing for children's rights". It focuses on the difficult living conditions of children and adolescents in many countries suffering from crises, wars and poverty. Prime Minister Rhein accepted the traditional house blessing "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" and also presented a symbolic donation of money.
support for children in emergency
The money collected should specifically benefit children in Kenya and Colombia. It gives you access to education, medical care and food and protects you from violence and neglect. As part of its commitment, Rhein also expressed the ongoing efforts of the Hessian state government to better protect and promote children and adolescents. This also includes strengthening specialist advice centers against sexualized violence.
Another step in this context is the planned establishment of a state of affairs for victims of sexual violence. Alexander Bauer was used as a new child protection officer in Hesse, whose task is to ensure prevention and intervention in these sensitive subject areas. Miriam Zeleke is the state representative for child and youth rights and is actively committed to strengthening the rights and participation of young people.
educational materials for the star singing campaign
As part of the star singing campaign 2025, special teaching materials are also available that deal with the rights of children. These materials are particularly suitable for lessons in the 3rd to 7th grade of all types of school and are linked to the film "Willi and Children's Rights". Topics are dealt with in three different locations: Turkana in Kenya, Bogotá in Colombia and a children's rights school in Germany.
The materials provided offer extensive backgrounds, methods and worksheets to deepen the topics in the classroom. As part of the educational offer, it is possible to download the corresponding booklets as a PDF and integrate into the classroom in order to raise awareness of the rights of children Heilig-geist-am-taunus.de . For Prime Minister Rhein and the parishes involved, it is clear: Each contribution counts to enable children in need.
