Anniversary in Kassel: 50 years of life rescuer Christoph 7 celebrated!
On April 29, 2025, the anniversary celebration for the 50th anniversary of the civil protection helicopter "Christoph 7" took place in Kassel. Hesse's Minister of Health Diana proudly emphasized the enormous importance of helicopter for the trust of the population and its role in life -saving operations in northern Hesse. Since the first assignment on December 17, 1974, "Christoph 7" has already carried out over 55,000 missions, with 1,300 missions taking place alone last year. The area of application extends over a radius of around 70 kilometers and comprises parts of North Hesse, East Westphalia, South Lower Saxony and the adjacent Thuringia.
The helicopters' operations cover a wide range, from acute medical emergencies to disaster protection measures. In cooperation with the Federal Police and the German Red Cross, air rescue is regarded as an essential component in emergency medical care and complements the capacity possibilities of the floor -bound rescue service. During the celebrations, a ceremony, a specialist symposium and a public exhibition of the emergency services were also organized in which disaster protection vehicles, ambulances and even a historical BO 105 rescue helicopter were seen.
statistics and number of operations
In 2024, the nationwide civil protection helicopters were activated a total of 13,793 missions, which corresponds to a slight decline compared to the 14,426 missions in the previous year. 3,801 of this was carried out by patients. An overview of the most common missions of the helicopters shows:
helicopter Th> | missions |
---|---|
"Christoph 17" (Kempten) | 1.561 |
"Christoph 14" (Traunstein) | 1.404 |
"Christoph 35" (Brandenburg) | 1.318 |
"Christoph 29" (Hamburg) | 1.310 |
"Christoph 7" (Kassel) | 1.156 |
The air rescue, which also includes "Christoph 7", plays a crucial role in medical emergency care. Around 75 percent of the missions are primary emergency operations, while the remaining proportion includes secondary missions such as living liabilities. The daily working hours of the helicopter start at 7 a.m. and end with sunset, with each crew consisting of a pilot, an emergency doctor and an emergency parameter.
outlook and challenges
Although the civil protection helicopters have an impressive range of services, a decline in the number of operations indicates general trends in emergency rescue. Factors such as weather -related failures, natural fluctuations in operations and the expansion of treatment powers for emergency paramedics have an impact on statistics. The trend is also evident in the number of other civil protection helicopters, including "Christoph 2" and "Christoph 9", whereby the latter will also celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025.
Overall, the importance of the civil protection helicopter "Christoph 7" in northern Hesse is undisputed. Air rescue in Germany not only promotes population protection, but also contributes to the high quality of emergency medical care. The costs for the operations are usually borne by the patient's health insurance company, which represents another aspect of the accessibility and availability of the services. The solemn events around the anniversary also strengthen the trust of the population in the air rescue.
