Kasseler fairytale market: 2.3 million visitors and new attractions 2025!

The Kassel fairy tale Christmas market, which lastly took place until December 30, 2024, takes a positive balance. Like Hessische/Lower Saxon general , a total of 2.3 million people visited the traditional event. This has been carried out since 2012 after the CDU and SPD made a joint application in the city council.

Norbert Wett, who was then chairman of the CDU parliamentary group, is now a tourist director and chairman of the supervisory board of Kassel Marketing GmbH. One of the main attractions this year was the high ropesist Fernando Traber, who has already signed a new contract for the 2025 Christmas market. Traber not only offered a sledge, but also roped down impressively on the royal square. The attractions were supplemented by the fairytale slide by Sebastian Ruppert and the ox root on Florentine Platz.

The newly introduced Märchendorf on Obelisken could not reach the expected number of visitors. Here there was a lack of gastronomic offers and musical performances, which contributed to the low number of visitors. While the fairy tale readings for children in the fairy tale room on the obelisk found little encouragement, the handicrafts were in great demand.

In view of the increased security requirements, which were checked after the tragic attack in Magdeburg, additional precautions seemed necessary. For example, the trams were removed from the city center during the Christmas market, which should ensure an increased level of safety. However, these measures also lead to increasing costs that Kassel Marketing has to bear.
