Nonviolent education: Wetzlar sets characters with the day of action on April 30th!
The "Day of Violent Education" on April 30, 2025 becomes an important event in the Lahn-Dill district that should draw attention to the need for non-violent education. The district administration, the city of Wetzlar and the Kinderschutzbund Wetzlar have organized a day of action together, which will take place from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Bahnhofstrasse, opposite the Hercules Center. The aim of the action day is to promote non -violent conflict solutions in families and to make support offers better known that enable parenting to take advantage of help.
The day of action offers a variety of offers. Among other things, games, balloons and information materials about the right to non -violent education are provided. The accompanying activities include game scenes from the Wetzlar children's theater project and contributions from young people from the Wetzlar Youth Forum. These will also take care of the "Sweet baking pipes" campaign - biscuits in pipe shape, which you will bake and distribute yourself. The event is also supported by the Wetzlar family center, which includes the “Children's Scot” initiative, among other things. These children's notes are securely marked refuge for children in public space.
legal foundations and social attitude
The law on the ostracism of violence in education has been in force for 24 years. Despite this legal regulation and the progress made, a study by the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychotherapy Ulm, the Child Protection Association and Unicef Germany shows that 52.4% of those surveyed believe that a "slap on the butt" is not a shame. In addition, 17.6% of the respondents consider it acceptable to slap a child. These results make it clear that a lot of educational work is still necessary to reduce violence experiences in education and to enable non -violent growing up for children. The Kinderschutzbund therefore calls for targeted social education and concrete offers for non -violent upbringing in institutions and families.
The campaign "Violence is more than you think", which is directed against psychological violence on children, shows the commitment of the Federal Association of the Child Protection Association at various levels. This initiative and other measures aim to enable children to grow non -violent and to provide parents and educational assistance in order to be able to solve conflicts without violence. Despite the existing measures, the awareness of violence in education remains a challenge that needs to be mastered in order to really establish a non -violent education as a norm in the future.
Overall, the action day on April 30 has the potential to reach a general public and to sensitize many people to the important topic. It is a step in the right direction for everyone who is committed to the rights of children and non -violent upbringing.
